Japanese universities promoted at Kyrgyz-Japan Study Abroad Fair 2015

High school and university students wishing to study in Japan and Japanese universities hoping to receive exchange students had the opportunity to come together at the Kyrgyz-Japan Study Abroad Fair 2015 held by the Kyrgyz Republic-Japan Center for Human Development on November 3 and 4 for OKU and Kyrgyz students.
The central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan is relatively unknown in Japan, but almost every year since 2007, Kyrgyz exchange students have attended OKU on government scholarships. Japan’s postwar economic development, martial arts, tea ceremony and other traditional arts, anime and other pop culture are of interest to the Kyrgyz people, and the number of people interested in studying in Japan increases each year. Fairs were held on November 3 at Kyrgyz National University and on November 4 at Bishkek Humanities University. A total of approximately 650 people attended.
Attendance from OKU included Yasuhiko Mukai, Vice President and Assistant Director in Charge of Research and International Issues, and International Center Director General, Professor Yuri Hasegawa. The two introduced the benefits of study at OKU and spoke with potential exchange students. Former exchange students who studied at OKU also offered advice, answering questions about dormitories, scholarship and areas of study.
