OKU Showcase at "Japan, Osaka Study-Abroad Fair" in Indonesia

Seeking to advertise local educational institutions as well as the prefecture's attractions, the Osaka Prefectural Internationalization Strategy Executive Committee held its Japan, Osaka Study-Abroad Fair in Indonesia on September 20–21. Osaka Kyoiku University was among the exhibitors.
The purpose of the fair is to get the word out in Indonesia—a country that has a large population of youths and is experiencing remarkable economic development—about the educational and research strengths of 18 institutions in Osaka and work at recruiting study-abroad students with the aim of increasing their numbers. On September 20, a social gathering (the Bandung Exchange) took place at the Indonesian University of Education to stimulate interaction and cooperation between institutions in Osaka and Indonesia. The following day, the fair proper was held at the Bandung Institute of Technology to promote studying abroad in Osaka among young Indonesians. More than 3,800 people came to the fair, filling the site with an air of excitement.
Professor Yuri Hasegawa of OKU's International Center and two university administrative staff members were on hand to talk about OKU's attractions and distinctive features, as well as to confer with students interested in studying at OKU. Indonesia has the second largest number of Japanese language students in the world. As a result, many youths showed up with questions that were asked in Japanese. The OKU booth was kept constantly busy as the OKU representatives handled inquiries about tuition costs, dormitories, and OKU's standing in terms of its renown among Japanese universities.
