Educational Goals 1
From basics to advanced, from learner to instructor/teacher
Students will take classes starting from the basics to more advanced courses, beginning with introductory classes and moving through advanced lectures and seminars in Japanese language, Japanese literature, Chinese literature, and Japanese language pedagogy. Our course trains future teachers who master methods of instruction through classes of Japanese language teaching pedagogy and a teaching practicum, and who are capable of supporting students based on what they have learned.
Educational Goals 2
Active learning in small classes
Instruction/Guidance is provided with a maximum of eight students per faculty member. Support is provided to freshmen for school observation, to juniors for their teaching practicum and seminars, and to seniors for a supplementary teaching practicum and senior thesis supervision. Senior thesis supervision provided to juniors and seniors creates opportunities for students to present their research findings and cultivates their abilities to express themselves.
