On January 7, University President Akio Nagao and other university staff expressed their condolences regarding Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University (Ayutthaya) and Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (Bangkok) that were damaged by the large-scale floods in the Kingdom of Thailand last year. A donation was made to students affected by the disaster and to the university.
An exchange agreement was signed in 1995 between the four universities (Osaka Educational University, Kyoto Educational University, Shiga University, and Hyogo Educational University) with teacher training departments in the Kansai region, including this school, and the consortium of 40 Rajabhat Universities. This is the oldest exchange agreement for this school.
In addition to President Akio Nagao from this university, President Yasuhiko Mukai of the International Center, International Manager Kenichi Yoshida of the Academic Division, Executive Hideki Ando from the Kyoto Educational University, and Associate Professor Masamichi Sasaki were in attendance to personally donate 420,000 yen from the university.
This donation was from the teaching staff of this university, Kashiwara Lion’s Club, University Coop, and from the International Student Booster Club of the Osaka Education University.
President Nagao stated in his greeting, “Overseas support after the Great East Japan Earthquake emotionally supported the people of Japan.
Although financially, this amount may not be very significant, we would like for you to accept this as a token of our friendship.
We want to remember our support for one another, promote our continued cooperation, and deepen our friendship.” He encouraged the victims of the disaster and university related staff.
