Exchange Agreement signed with Åbo Akademi University (Finland)

OKU and Finland’s Åbo Akademi University have entered an educational and academic exchange agreement, as well as a student exchange memorandum. The signing ceremony was not held, but they were made effective with the signature dated August 30.
Åbo Akademi University was established in 1918. There are 7 departments: arts, science,
socioeconomics, engineering, theology, education, and social care science. With the student enrollment at 7,941 and 1,125 faculty members, the university belongs to the Coimbra Group (an association of research universities in Europe), and is one of the leading universities in Scandinavia.
Its main campus is located in the city of Turku in southwest Finland, but our main exchange destination is the Vaasa campus, where its education department is located. Also, since it is in the Swedish-speaking region, the classes are taught in Swedish and English although it is a Finnish university. Åbo is the Swedish name for Turku.
Åbo Akademi University’s education department is located in the city of Vaasa in western Finland,
facing Gulf of Bothnia. We already have a history of student exchange with them, as our students have interned at their affiliated schools. Now that we have officially entered an agreement, we are expecting further exchange.
