Exchange Agreement Concluded with University of Victoria, Canada
Osaka Kyoiku University has concluded an educational and scholarly exchange agreement with the University of Victoria in Canada. The agreement was signed by President Nagao Akio in a ceremony on February 6 during a visit to the Canadian institution.
The University of Victoria is located in the city of the same name, which is capital of the Canadian province of British Columbia. The institution is a comprehensive university with approximately 19,000 students organized into 11 faculties and divisions, including the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business; the divisions of Continuing Studies and Medical Sciences; and the faculties of Education,
Engineering, Fine Arts, Human and Social Development, Humanities, Law, Science, and Social Sciences. Victoria is an orderly city surrounded by rainforest located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. The metropolis is said to be home to many immigrants, making it a place easy in culinary and lifestyle terms for exchange students and other foreign visitors to spend their stays.
The two universities conducted discussions prior to the signing about future exchanges, including some specific proposals. The agreement is Osaka Kyōiku University's first with a Canadian institution, and much is hoped for from this new foothold on North America's western coast.
