Osaka Kyoiku University has concluded an exchange agreement with the Singapore's National Institute of Education (NIE), an autonomous institute attached to Nanyang Technological University (NTU). OKU President Sumio Kuribayashi visited NTU to participate in a signing ceremony for the agreement. NTU is a national higher education institution established in 1991 in the western part of the city state. The university provides an education to some 23,500 undergraduate and 10,000 graduate students on an expansive campus that covers roughly 200 hectares. The NIE is the only institution that provides teacher training in Singapore, a country whose education system is said to be one of the most successful in the world. Following the ceremony, Kuribayashi appraised the cutting-edge educational facilities for himself and saw firsthand the enthusiasm and desire of staff to provide training of the highest caliber. The tie-up with NIE is expected to help OKU to provide even better training for its own students in the future.
